Mildred Colley Drake, a life long resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Sunday. May 15, 2011 at a local hospital. She was an employee of Olin Chemicals and Bowater before accepting employment with Roadway, where she worked for 35 years. After retiring from Roadway, she began work at Lowe’s Home Center, where she worked until her death. Her hobby was landscaping and planting flowers in her garden. She attended both South Cleveland Church of God and All Nations Church of God. She was preceded in death by parents, Sumpter and Sara Colley, her sister, Veheda Ledford, and brother-in-law, Ralph York. She is survived by one brother, Hershel Colley of Georgetown, Tennessee, one sister, Mary Frances York and brother-in-law, Alphus Ledford both of Cleveland, Tennessee. She is also survived by two nieces and their husbands, Sandra York Benton and husband, David M. Benton and Teresa Ledford Stephenson and husband, Jerry Stephenson, and one nephew, Roger L. York all of Cleveland, Tennessee. She is further survived by one great nephew, Brian Woody and wife Ashlea Woody, and one very special great-great niece, Riley Woody all of Joelton, Tennessee. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Whitmire officiating. Her family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Cemetery. Roger York, David Benton, Brian Woody, Charles Moody, Lamar Hardin and Bill White will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
