Avis E. Gaylor, 79, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, January 01, 2009 in a local hospital. She was a member of Big Spring Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mrs. Gaylor retired from Duracell after 20 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Everette C. Gaylor; parents, Bascom Lee Auberry, Sr. and Callie McTaggart Auberry; one sister, Ella V. Beck; three brothers: Bascom Lee Auberry, Jr., Jack Auberry and Johnny Max Auberry. She is survived by her son, Robert W. Gaylor and wife, Shirley of Cleveland; one grandchild, Robert A. Gaylor and wife Melissa; two great grandchildren, Lauren Gaylor, Robert C. Gaylor and wife, Kerri all of Cleveland; three sisters: Gwendola Wilson and her husband, Ralph of Cleveland, Bobbie Ware of Cleveland and Ruth Chastain of Charlotte, NC; special brother and sister-in-law, E.J. and Margaret Bonner of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Bill Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Robert A. Gaylor, Robert C. Gaylor, Dewitt Beck, Bill Auberry, E.J. Bonner, Eugene Hysinger and Earl Gentry serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
