Robert L Derrick Sr.

Robert L. (Bob) Derrick, Sr., 75 a resident of Cleveland, passed away January 3, 2009 in a Nashville hospital. He was a member of Bellefounte Baptist Church where he attended his entire life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in Korea. He retired from Bowater Paper Corporation after 41 years. Mr. Derrick was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Charleston Lodge #484 F&AM, a member of the Bradley County Scottish Rite, Calhoun Order of the Eastern Star #187, Alhambra Shrine Temple in Chattanooga, Charleston Ruritan Club and member of the Public Service Unit of the Cleveland Police Department for 8 years where he escorted many funerals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Clifford Derrick and Essie Farris Derrick; brother, Bill Derrick; sisters: Gladys Derrick Morris, Floura Derrick Ledford and Louise Derrick. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edna Derrick of Cleveland; one son, Robbie Derrick and wife, Nelda of Cleveland; two grandchildren: Rachel Taylor and husband Cameron and Adam Derrick; two great grandchildren: Caydyn Taylor and Madilyn Taylor all of Cleveland; one sister, Irene Crowe and one brother, Lynn Derrick both of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Lake Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Thomas Swafford, Paul Galloway, Calvin Arnold, Walter Nunnelly, Marc Jordan and David Godfrey serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service to follow at 8:00 P.M.
