Alpha Mae Moss

Alpha Mae Moss, 89, a resident of Cleveland for the past two years and a native of TX, passed away Monday, January 12, 2009 in a local hospital. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Garland, TX. For thirty-eight years, she was an elementary school teacher in the Dallas School System. She was a volunteer at Garland Memorial Hospital for several years. She was preceded in death two months ago by her husband, James L. Moss; parents, Robert E. Johnson and Maggie Cheatham Johnson; sisters: Joni Schultz, Ida Cozart, Polly Straughan, Ada Belle Taylor, Charlotte Jackman and Ruby Russell; brothers: Robert Johnson, Cap Johnson, Jack Johnson and Tom Johnson. She is survived by one daughter, Pam Marr and husband, Danny of Cleveland; two grandchildren: Adam Marr and wife, Kelly, Aaron Marr and wife, Kate all of Smyrna, GA; one great grandchild, Abby Marr of Smyrna, GA; two sisters: Bert Wood of Hamilton, TX and Emily Manness of Brownwood, TX; several nieces and nephews including Jennifer Taylor and husband, Bob and Rob Schultz of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Debbie Stokes officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. The staff at Garden Plaza will serve as honorary pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from noon to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
