Carl C Buckner

June 27, 1939 — January 13, 2009

Carl C. Buckner, 69, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in a Chattanooga hospital. Many knew Carl by his nickname Doe Ball or Buck. He was an avid gardener and had a passion for gardening. He was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. He worked at Earnest Holmes as a welder till closing and TVA for twenty years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the teamsters where he was very active until his health failed him. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard O. and Callie Mae Buckner. He is survived by his wife Claudette Hilton Buckner of Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law: Jena P. and Kurt M. Frederick of Cleveland; granddaughters: Aubrey E. Reagan and Lindsey P. Frederick and Sophie G. Frederick all of Cleveland; brothers: Norman H. Buckner, Melvin B. Buckner, Garrie D. Buckner of Cleveland and Donald E. Buckner of Mt. Verd, Kentucky and their families; one living uncle Zeke Hightower and cousin, Barry Hightower and his family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Hooker officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jason Buckner, Keith Buckner, Chad Buckner, Leif Buckner, Rick Hilton, Hiram Hodge and Scott Leslie serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2009 at the funeral home.
