leo I Pilcher German

April 25, 1927 — January 30, 2009

Cleo I. Pilcher German, 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, January 30, 2009 at a local hospital. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she was the organist for 50 years and was the Sunday School teacher for the Grace Class for over 42. She loved music and could play over 6 instruments. She sang with quartets and in choral groups all of her life. For 30 years she was an executive secretary at Dixie Yarns. She was born in Tunnell Hill, GA to the late Charles Pilcher and Mattie Smith Pilcher. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Lingerfelt and Vinness Edgemon Reeves and one brother, J.T. Pilcher. She is survived by her husband, John Edward German of Cleveland; two children: Kathy Karnes and husband, John of Cleveland and Sandra Stewart and husband, Jerry of Calhoun; two grandchildren: Anna Karnes and Kelsey Karnes of Cleveland; two brothers: Edwin Pilcher and wife, JoAnn of Murrells Inlet, SC and Mertin Pilcher and wife, Blanche of FL and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Rusty Langford officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
