Juanita Mary Oliver, 97, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 2, 2009 in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Moringside Assisted Living for the past three years. She was the oldest living member of the Central Church of Christ. She formerly worked in the Bradley County Courthouse in the election commission office and the district attorney?s office. She also worked in the Bradley Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. She was a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was active in the Pachyderm Club. Mrs. Oliver was the daughter of the late William and Mattie Young Johnston and was also preceded in death by her husband, Sam Stancil Oliver, son, Jack Stancil Oliver, grandson, John Stephen Oliver, sister, Lola Crew, William Johnston and daughter-in-law, Judy Oliver. She is survived by her two sons: Bill Oliver of Cleveland and Don Oliver and wife, Carolyn Oliver of Niota; six grandchildren: Amy Lynn Ragland, William David Oliver, Wendy Crews, Alice Wallace, Daniel Oliver and Sam Oliver; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Leota Brockie of Dallas, Texas. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Minister Tom Harrison and Minister David Webb officiating. A graveside service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Christ Church Cemetery in Bastrop, LA. Memorials may be made to the Central Church of Christ Library or Benevolent Fund, 200 25th Street, NW, Cleveland, Tennessee 37311.
