Clara Fatandas Ameredes, 81, a resident of Cleveland, TN and a former resident of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009 in a local hospital. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a retired secretary with the United States Government. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbus, Ohio. Mrs. Ameredes was the daughter of the late Constantine and Athina Fatandas and was also preceded in death by her husband, Haritan Theodore Ameredes and her brother, Nicholas Fatandas. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Theodore and Tonya Ameredes of Cleveland, TN; six grandchildren: Amanda Kennedy, Lauren Kennedy, Joanna Kennedy, Zachary Kennedy all of Cleveland, TN, Bannister Murray of Acworth, Georgia and Kendra Murray of Roseburg, Oregon; two sisters: Alexandra Fatandas and Victoria Melis both of Pittsburg, PA; sister-in-law, Ethel Fatandas of McKeesport, PA; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbus, Ohio. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Her nephews and godchildren, Theodore Ameredes, Alex Ameredes, T.J. Ameredes, Harry Ameredes, Tim Ameredes, Bill Ameredes, George Melis, Gus Melis, Reed Melis and Kirt Melis will serve as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the church prior to the service. Ralph Buckner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
