Graham DeWitt Raley

November 9, 1921 — February 16, 2009

Graham DeWitt Raley, 87, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of Sheffield, Alabama, passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at the family residence. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and an active Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving thirty-one months in Europe during World War II. He was a 32nd degree mason and was a fifty year member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge #134. He was a member of the Chattanooga Scottish Rite Society and a member of the Alhambra Shrine of Chattanooga. He was retired from TVA and the City of Cleveland as the Cleveland Building inspector. He was a charter member of the Carpenters Union # 109 in Sheffield, Alabama. Mr. Raley was the son of the late William E. Raley and Pauline McHone Raley and was also preceded in death by his sister, Dot Dixon and two brothers: Joe E. Raley and William Raley, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Neen Raley of Cleveland; one son and spouse: Jerry D. and Gula Raley of Cleveland; one granddaughter, Leslie Raley of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Sue Raley of Bay Minette, Alabama.; one niece and three nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Caywood officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Ulysses Hester, Lawrence Stokes, Jimmy Runyon, Howard Arbore, Ron Dixon and Jason Beason will serve as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation, P.O.
