Edith (Aunt Edith) Harvey, 99, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2008 in a local healthcare facility. She was a former employee of Sanda Hosiery Mill for many years and then was employed with Charleston Hosiery for many years and retired at the age of 72. A very special lady, Edith is considered a second Mom to her nieces and nephews, a loving aunt to many great nieces and nephews, a caring friend to many, and a beloved member of her church family at Dalton Pike Baptist. A two-time cancer survivor, this remarkable lady was always concerned for others. Mrs. Harvey was the daughter of the late Alexander David McCoy and Dora McGowen McCoy and was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Harvey; her brother, Grant McCoy and her sister, Bonnie Davis; her nephew, David Caldwell. She is survived by her one sister, Dovie Caldwell; one brother, Dan McCoy; nieces and nephews: Brenda and Fred Carder, Debbie and Jack Walker, Julie and Darrell Works, Danny McCoy, Mary Frances Healan, Vickie and Ricky Swiger and Milteen and Jerry Green; and many great nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Dudley Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the funeral home.
