Frances Louise Davenport Rogers

April 11, 1925 — October 19, 2008

Frances Louise Davenport Rogers, 83, a resident of Cleveland went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 19, 2008. She was an active and faithful leader and Sunday School teacher in her home church, Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Benton, TN for over 30 years and also at her present membership since 1976 at First Baptist Church of Cleveland where she served along side of her late husband as the first caretakers of the church?s Camp Cherokee for eight years. She will always be remembered for her love and witness for the Lord and a heart to reach out to young people. She attended Cleveland State Community College and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 1968-1972 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in secondary education and taught in the Polk County School System for 17 years before retiring in 1990. She was the daughter of the late John and Naneral Davenport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Eugene Rogers; son, Ronnie Eugene Rogers; one brother, Henry Bryant Davenport and two sisters, Geneva Wilson and Callie Rogers. She is survived by her daughter and husband, Rebecca and Jerry Richardson and one sister and husband, Aileen and Charles Howard all of Cleveland. Three grandchildren and spouses; Travis and Michelle Rogers, Kipp and Buffy Richardson all of Cleveland, and Lynndee and Chris Horne of Fayetteville, NC. Four great-grandchildren; Blake Rogers, Kalee Rogers, Breanne Guyer, and Klover Richardson; Special friend Sharee Allen and former daughter-in-law and husband, Donna and Jim Hendren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008 with Rev. Jim Gibson and Rev. Bill Griffith officiating. Interment will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Benton, TN with a white dove release ceremony to conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 on Tuesday evening prior to the service. The family request memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Cleveland Building Fund.
