Donald Edwin Doyle, 74, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at his home. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was always there for his family. His family loved him dearly and will miss him very much. Don was born in Heavener, Ok and moved to Chula Vista, CA with his family during World War II when he was ten years old. He lived there until he entered the United States Army in 1953. He served in the 95th Combat Engineers as a helicopter crew chief. He was stationed in Darmstadt, Germany for three years. He returned to the United States and when the 95th was disbanded he served with the 33rd Transportation Company, also as a helicopter mechanic until he was honorably discharged in 1960. He then returned to Chula Vista and became a firefighter. He retired as a captain in 1990 after 27 years with the Chula Vista Fire Department. In 2000 he and his wife Christa moved to Cleveland, TN. He was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Chula Vista, CA before he came to Tennessee and then was a parishioner of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Cleveland for eight years, where he was an active member of Queen of Heaven Council of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ruth Doyle of Chula Vista, CA. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Christa Doyle; his son, Brent Doyle and wife Judy of Portland, OR; daughters: Donna L. Doyle of San Diego, CA, Denise Roberts and husband Gordon Roberts of Livermore, CA; stepdaughter, Simone Almandarez of San Diego, CA; also ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; brothers: William Doyle of Perris, CA and Gerald Doyle of Calhoun, TN; sisters: June Johnson and Nenea Carpenter both of Cleveland, TN. A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008 at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church with Father Antonio Giraldo and Father P.J. McGinnity officiating. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at San Diego, CA.
