Jerry C. Evans, 60, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, November 3, 2008 at the family residence. He attended the Eagles Chapel. He was a graduate of Bearden High School Class of 1965. He was employed with Bowater Corporation for thirty years. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam Conflict. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlton T. Evans. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Evans of Cleveland; mother, Nellie Mae Grosch of Knoxville; four children: Whitney Mantooth of Signal Mountain, Robbie Mantooth of Malibu, CA, Jon Mantooth of Cleveland and Joseph Evans of Nashville; three grandchildren: Bryant Mantooth, Caitlyn Mantooth and Brandon Mantooth; three sisters: Sandra Brooks, Eddeana Moore and Teresa Loveday all of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Timmerman and Joseph Evans officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Clear Springs Cemetery in Riceville. His family will receive friends from 5-7:15 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the funeral home prior to the service.
