Charles R Carter

Charles R. Carter, 77, a resident of Cleveland passed away Friday, November 21, 2008 in a healthcare facility. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Mr. Carter retired from Bowater Corporation after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Carter; parents, Levi and Ruth Pullen Carter and brother, Kenneth Carter. He is survived by his wife, Sue Carter of Cleveland; sons: Bobby Carter and wife, Michelle, Larry Carter and wife, Susan all of Cleveland; daughter, Tami Shell Martin and husband, Thomas of Wilmington, NC; granddaughters, Jenny Hoffman and husband, Matt, Annie Ben-Judah and husband, Shlomo; several great granddaughters; brother, David Carter and wife, Nadia; and nieces, Melinda Carter and Julie Carter. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 24, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Russell Langford officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Matt Hoffman, Shlomo Ben-Judah, Ricky Beck, Scott Montgomery, Bobby Gorman and Paul Baker serving as pallbearers. The deacons of Macedonia Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
