James W. "Buddy" Collins, 67, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2008 at the family residence. He attended First Baptist Church of Charleston. He was a retired employee of the Bradley County Road Department where he worked as an inspector. Mr. Collins played bass with several local gospel groups and was a member of the Collins Family Quartet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert P. Collins and Alice J. Horn Collins; 2 sisters: Mary Stewart and Nancy Janet Collins; and 1 brother, Bobby Ray Collins. He is survived by his fiancé, Wanda Jean Edalgo of Cleveland; sisters: Imogene Collins of Cleveland, Patsy Harris and husband, Curtis of Charleston; Shelby Howell Smith and husband, Lamar, Linda Crittenden and husband, J.B. and Sharon Carden all of Cleveland; brothers: Tom Collins and wife, Trish and Johnny Collins and wife, Regina all of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 30, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Hughes and Pastor Gary Sears officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaty Cemetery with his nephews and great nephews: Steven Maddux, Robbie Stewart, Wesley Collins, Todd Collins, Dustin Owens and Zack Owens serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 4 to 8 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
