Roy C Carroll

Roy C. Carroll, 87, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008 in a local hospital. He was the owner and operator of the Shell Super Service on South Broad Street for over thirty years. He was a former member of the Bradley County School Board during the 1960?s. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard protecting the Florida Coast Line during World War II. He was a former Sunday school member of North Cleveland Baptist Church. Mr. Carroll was the son of the late William Larry Carroll and Missouri Elizabeth Pence Carroll and was also preceded in death by his four brothers: Howard, Grady, Herbert and T.R. Carroll and five sisters: Mamie Cawood, Ora Collins, Frances Jackson, Ada Belle Swafford and Ruth Ingram; one great-granddaughter, Laura Beth Miles. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Green Carroll of Cleveland; one daughter, Joan Elliott and husband Stephen of Cleveland; two grandchildren: Jeffrey Elliott and wife Emily and Amanda Miles and husband Greg all of Cleveland; two great-grandchildren: Bryce Elliott and Benjamin Miles; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jay McCluskey and Jack Green, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. His nephews, Steve Jackson, Reggie Swafford, Larry Swafford, Jack Green, Jr., Perry Ingram and David Ingram will serve as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the funeral home prior to the service.
