Marvin “Mug” Hitson, 80, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010 at his residence. He was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertie West Hitson; brothers, Jody Hitson, Lloyd Hitson and Charles Hitson; sister, Jennie Cartwright; and three grandchildren, Kenneth Wayne Hitson, Malibu Walker and T.J. Walker. He is survived by his wife, Frances Hitson of Cleveland; seven children, Betty Godfrey and husband, Robert of Cleveland, Marvin Hitson and wife, Janice of Cleveland, James Hitson and wife, Nancy of Knoxville, Kenneth Hitson and wife, Sonia of Cleveland, Charlie Hitson and wife, Lisa of Cleveland, Melissa Cronan of Cleveland and Frances McNish of Cleveland; 13 grandchildren, Tony Hitson, Brad Hitson, Christopher Hitson, Christina Walker, Jennnifer Boldin, Matthew Hitson, Michelle Godfrey, Jackie Hitson, Sarah Oglesby, Jeremy Hitson, Brittany Rogers, Brandon McNish and Zachary McNish; several great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Hitson and wife, Betty and G.W. Hitson and wife, Rosa Mae, all of Cleveland; and sister, Maybelle Smith and husband, Harold of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at United Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Roger Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Epperson Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Tellico. His family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
