Robert (Bob) Doyle DeLay, Sr., 80, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the family residence. He was a member of Big Spring Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator Southern Sewing Machine in Cleveland for forty years. He served in the United States Army for ten years. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Cleveland Lodge and a member of the Alahambra Shriners of Chattanooga. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis DeLay; father, William (Bill) Delay, mother, Maude Delay and step mother, Mary Delay. He is survived by one son Bobby DeLay and wife Pam DeLay; three special grandchildren: April (Martin) Smith, Robert (Rob) DeLay, III and Courtney DeLay; one great-grandchild, Nate Smith ; brother, Jack Duggan and wife Barbara of Cleveland; brother-in-law, Travis Griffith, Terry Griffith; sister-in-law, Freda Griffith; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Max Morris officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2010 at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Joe Vaughn, Jim Brigham, Russell Rogers, David Morrow, Scott Kyle and J.J. Hysinger will serve as pallbearers His family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the funeral home prior to the service.
