William Cody Moats, 19, a resident of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in a Chattanooga healthcare facility. He was a member of Spring Creek United Methodist Church. He graduated from McMinn County High School in May 2010. He attended Athens Technical School studying computers on a full scholarship. He loved computers, music, and played the guitar. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virginia and Paul Runyon Sr.; grandfather, Allen Moats, Sr.; great-grandmother, Catherine Roderick. He is survived by his parents, Allen E. Moats, Jr. and fiancé, Diane McPhetridge both of Cleveland; mother, Paula A. Runyon Barham and step-father, Walter Barham, both of Calhoun; and grandmother, Betty Moats of Cleveland; brother, Michael Moats of Cleveland; nephew, Michael Slade Moats of Cleveland and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 3 at 8:00 p.m., in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastors Robert Birmingham and Mary Parsons officiating. A graveside service will be Saturday, December 4 at 11:00 a.m. in Lower Spring Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The procession will leave Ralph Buckner Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Chris Moore, Hayden Kent, Houston McCracken, Tucker Harris, Nathan Pitcock, Alex Moore and Michael Moats serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with a White Dove Release Ceremony. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7:45 on Friday, December 3 at the funeral home.
