Joan Myers

Joan Powell Myers, 61, of Cleveland, lost her courageous battle with cancer Tuesday, August 19, 2008. Our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt was totally devoted to her family and touched the lives of everyone she knew especially all the children she cared for over the years and all the folks she mended for. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert T. Powell and Grapell Plott Powell; brothers, Carroll Gay Powell and Tommy Powell; sisters: Betty Sue Powell and Grace Powell Raper. Survivors include her daughters: Missy Gentry Payne and her husband, Mitchell of Oldfort, Kim Gentry Nipper and her husband, Scott of Cleveland; sons: Tommy Wayne Gentry and his wife Tammy of Tasso and Dr. Darris A. Gentry and his life partner Mike Stephens of Atlanta; grandchildren: Jonathan Mantooth, Kyra and Macy Nipper and Tamara and Tia Gentry; sisters and brothers-in-law: Wanda and Tommy Hayes of Cleveland, Sandy and Bob Gebing of Dade City, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ray Powell and Estelle and J.B. and Roberta Powell of Riceville, Jerry Powell of Calhoun and Tony Powell of Riceville; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive; her furry friends, Bubba, Agador, Jake, Prissy and Madison will miss her a lot. The family invites you to join them for a "Celebration of Life" Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Kim and Scott Nipper, 1833 North Ocoee Street, Cleveland, Tennessee 37311. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Brenda Davis Fund, c/o Dr. Sylvia Krueger?s Office, 353 Worth Street, Cleveland, Tennessee 37311 which is a fund established to assist patients with their medical care.
