Joan Marie Rasmussen August 21, 1939 ? September 8, 2008 Joan Rasmussen, 69, passed away in Cleveland, Tennessee. She was born to Lloyd and Viola Wyland in Alliance, Nebraska. As a child the family moved to Montana and California settling in Washington in 1954. She married and raised her 5 children and 1 granddaughter in Auburn until moving to Leavenworth in 1981. She returned to Tacoma in 1986 and lived there until moving to Mobile, AL in 1996. Mom and Jack retired in Cleveland in 2000. She is survived by her husband Jack; sons Doug (Terry) Mozingo of Arizona, Bill Mozingo of Auburn, WA Walter (Amber) Mozingo of Port Angeles, WA; daughters Patty Mozingo of Bonney Lake, WA and Susie (Aaron) Taylor of Buckley, WA; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter, brother Ralph (Akiko) Wyland of Spokane, WA and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bob and an infant child. Mom supported all of us kids in whatever direction our lives took us. Her life was dedicated to her family. She spent time with the boys in Boy Scouts as a Den mother for Troop 401 in Auburn. Mom?s heart was in volunteering. She spent countless hours in the Auburn and Tacoma School Districts as a volunteer. From being the Head Chaperone of the Auburn High School Marching Band to teaching kids to read in the HOST program to endless hours working and traveling on behalf of the Chapter One Program?she was always busy. She received the PTA?s Golden Acorn Award in both Auburn and Tacoma. She received many awards over the years for her hard work and dedication to parent involvement in schools. She worked with the Parent Advisory council on the local and national levels. Mom was recognized by Governor Booth Gardner for her volunteering on behalf of her child advocacy. She loved to sew, read, craft and when they were close, spend time with her kids and grandkids. Mom baked the best homemade bread! She loved the ocean and the mountains. The Smoky Mountains in Tennessee are a close second to the Cascades. She was a wonderful and generous wife, mom, grandma and friend. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be announced and held at later date. Ralph Buckner Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
