Thomas Ed Traylor, 91, a resident of Cleveland and former resident of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 in a Murfreesboro hospital. He was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church in Chattanooga. He was retired after 29 years from Standard Iron and Wire Works of Chattanooga. Mr. Traylor was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the European-African Theater in World War II; he received 5 bronze stars, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the Combat Infantry Medal. He was preceded in death by Louise Mantooth Traylor, his beloved wife of 64 years where at their 60th wedding anniversary they repeated their vows and exchanged rings. He was also preceded by his parents, Rudy Traylor and Mary Louisa Jane Albritton Traylor of Polk County. He is survived by his son, Charles Richard Traylor and wife, Daveleta of Jasper; daughter, Gail Traylor Kirkpatrick of Cleveland; 4 granddaughters: Sharla Lynette Traylor, Tiffany Suzanne Traylor of Lake Elsinore, CA, Jaclyn Diane Kirkpatrick of Birmingham, AL and Michelle Kirkpatrick Denham and husband, Matthew of Hixson; 2 sisters: Inez Frady and Lillie Mantooth of Old Fort and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Lamar S. Moore officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday in Chattanooga National Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
