Ruth Mae Smith, 88, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009 at her residence. She was a member of South Cleveland Church of God for over thirty years. She was the daughter of the late Dewey and Elsie Brown Mathis and was also preceded in death by her husband Alvin Lee Smith, as well as a brother Stanley Mathis, and sisters, Evelyn Mathis, and Lucinda Webb. She is survived by three children: Margaret Catherine Brown of Dayton, OH, Donald Lee Smith of Cleveland, and Judy Marie Steiner and Paul E. of Deland FL.; 3 grandchildren: Stephanie, Matthew, and Samantha Steiner; 5 brothers and sisters: Carlos Mathis, Ross Mathis, Norman Mathis all of Dayton, OH, Frances Travis of Dayton, TN, and Marie Singleton of Kissimmee, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of South Cleveland Church of God with Reverend Chris Moody and Reverend Carl Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony. Her family will receive friends from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at South Cleveland Church of God.
