Elizabeth Miller Sanders

September 16, 1919 — January 4, 2010

Elizabeth Miller Sanders, 90, of Charleston, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at her home. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. The love she showed for her family and for others knows no equal. Her hospitality was a legend among all those who knew her. Born in 1919 in the Eureka community, she was married for sixty-three years to Paul Sanders and both were devoted members of New Friendship Baptist Church. She was also a Bowater employee for thirty-five years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Unn Miller and Carrie Dalton Miller; her husband, Paul Sanders; grandson, J. London Sanders; sister, Billie Evans; and several half brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Jack Sanders and wife, Dianne; daughters, Emily Moody and husband, Larry and Betty Sargent and husband, Phil; grandchildren, Carrie Martin, Joshua London Sanders, David Moody, Benjamin Sanders and Paul Moody; step grandchildren, Alicia Rogers, Jenna Sargent and Brian Moody; great grandchildren, Morghan Moody, Wyatt Moody, Lenore and Tristan Sanders, Taylor Rogers and Heather, Peyton and Jacob Moody; special niece, Debbie Hayes; and many extended family members including, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at New Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in New Friendship Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Her family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
