Lake Thomas Long, 85, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, January 18, 2010 in a Chattanooga healthcare facility. He retired in 1987 as a truck driver with Georgia Highway Express. He was also in the United States Army where he served during World War II. He was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Beulah Long; his first wife, Mazelle D. Long; sister, Ruby Williams; and brother, Dee Long. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hand Long; children, Patricia "Pat" Meagher and husband, James "Jim" of Cleveland, Carolyn Sellers and husband, Alan of Rocky Face, GA and Gail Smith and husband, Rodney of Dalton, GA; seven grandchildren, Kelly Lundberg and husband, Joe of Winchester, James "Jimbo" Meagher, Jr. and wife, Ashley of Lenoir City, Joseph Patrick "Joe Pat" Meagher and wife, Callie of Cleveland, Crystal Causby and husband, Stephen of Calhoun, GA, Mark Sellers and wife Lisa, Rodney Smith, Jr. and wife, Debbie and Brian Smith and wife, Denise, all of Dalton, GA; twelve great grandchildren; sister, Anna Lou Harris of Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Darey Kittle officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the funeral home.
