JoAnn Goforth, 71, a resident of Georgetown, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 in a local healthcare facility. She was a member of Bayside Baptist Church. JoAnn, affectionately known as “Momma Jo”, was known for her loving heart. If you needed the world and she had it, she would give it to you. Before moving to the nursing home, Jo was an active participant in the Faith Class at Bayside. She was born in Chattanooga in 1938 to the late Jack Woody and Annie May Baker Woody. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Goforth, Jr.; son, Johnny Goforth, III and two brothers, Ervin Woody and Edward Woody. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Hill and husband, Charles of Georgetown; one granddaughter, Stacy Hill of Chattanooga; sisters: Pat (Alfred) Tankersley, Shirley (Eddie L.) Smith and Carolyn (David) Ledford all of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Stitts officiating. The Faith Fellowship Class will be honorary pallbearers. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Her family will receive friends from 3-5:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
