Michael D. “Skid” Tate, 46, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 in a local hospital. He worked in the construction business. He was of the Protestant faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Tate. He is survived by his mother, Betty Greene and husband, Paul of Cleveland; daughter, Kim Groomes of Athens; two grandchildren; sister, Becky Lockwood and husband, Paul of McDonald; brothers, Eddie Tate of McDonald, Randy Tate of Cleveland and Junior Greene and wife, Lisa of Cleveland; fiancé, Lee Ann Johnson of Cleveland; uncle, Kenneth Cathey of Cleveland; aunts, Linda Burns and Marie Holder, both of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Russell Coffey officiating. Interment will follow in Red Hill Cemetery with Paul Lockwood, Randy Tate, Eddie Tate, Mitchell Cathey, James Ratcliff and Randy Edwards serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00-3:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
