Betty Jo Whitted Saffels Black, 77, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. She worked as a caregiver at Bradley Nursing Home for 17 years. She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She had a great love for life, people, family and her loving Savior, Jesus. She was preceded in death by her husbands, J.E. Whitted and Richard Saffels; parents, Edna and Roscoe Black; infant son, Jackie Whitted; sister, Mamie Vaughn; and brother, Billy Black. She is survived by her four daughters, Joyce Whitted Chambers and husband, Monte of Monroe, GA; Janie Whitted Simmons and husband, Gerald and Teresa Whitted, all of Cleveland, Shirley Barfield of Atlanta, GA; son, Jeff Black and wife, Debbie of Cleveland; granddaughter, Stacie Whitted of McDonough, GA; grandsons, Wayne Shipman and Travis Chambers, both of Monroe, GA, Lesley Roberson, Shane Roberson, Curtis Simmons, Brandon Black, Gabriel Black and Jackie Black, all of Cleveland, and David Bartfield, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Bobby Black and wife, Wilma of Atlanta; sister, Phyllis Black White and husband, Harold of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law, Jean Black of Atlanta, GA and Jean Whitted Moats of North Carolina; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews are included in her family; her life long friend, Claudette Harmon; adopted daughter, Fredanna Anderson; and last, but not least, the apple of her eye, her loved Chihuahua, Prissy. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Tyler Gentry and the Reverend Ronnie Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
