Ray Hooper

Hooper, 78, of Cleveland, born January 7, 1932 passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at home with his family by his side. His gentle ways and smile will be greatly missed. He was a well known auto mechanic at Harris Phillips 66 and Orbit Oil. He loved to fish. He was a member of Clingan Ridge Baptist Church for 60 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Randall Ray Hooper; parents, Bernola and Jay Hugh Hooper; brothers, Alvin “Red”, Paul, Tom, Frank, W.R. and Leonard Hooper; and sister, Ruby Harris. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Sneed Hooper of Cleveland; son, Wes Hooper and wife, Holly of Cleveland; daughters, Cindy Helton and husband, Tom and Christy Hartley and husband, Allen, all of Cleveland; brothers, David Hooper of Cleveland, Joe Hooper of Los Angeles, CA and Wayne Hooper of Charleston; sisters, Marjorie Melton and Dot Carson, both of Cleveland; grandchildren, Wesley LeBron Ownbey, Torie Chastain, Taylor Hartley, Jacob Hartley, Brady Hooper and Kelsie Hartley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Clingan Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Ricky Vaughn and Pastor James Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Candies Creek Cemetery with Dale Hooper, Hugh Hooper, Ronnie Hooper, Wesley Ownbey, Jacob Hartley and Danny Sneed serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Denny Webb, Dale Sneed, Tracy Sneed and Andy Sneed. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends on Sunday, June 13, 2010, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the church.
