Doyle Lee Freeman, 70, a life long resident of Bradley County, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010. At 19 he was chosen to play the stand in for Montgomery Clift in the movie, “Wild River.” He retired as a heavy equipment mechanic and also worked at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church. He loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Freeman and parents, Everette and Irene Milsaps Freeman. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Poteet Freeman of Cleveland; children, James Freeman and wife, Patty of Des Moines, IA, Darla Hackney and husband, Randy of Cleveland and Marie Whitmire and husband, Sammy of Charleston; step children, Pamela Howard and husband, Billy and Dewayne Cartwright and wife, Dawn, all of Cleveland; nine grandchildren, Amanda Rogers, Joshua Arp, Jeremy Arp, Michael Leamon, Tyler Whitmire, Josh Roberts, Mike Hicks, Keslie Cartwright and Kaelyn Cartwright; four great grandchildren, Courtney Gore, Austin Townzen, Mary Townzen and Kaelynn Rogers; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Chaplain Les Fauntleroy officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Springs Cemetery with Tyler Whitmire, Danny Freeman, Joe Freeman, Jeremy Arp, Michael Hicks and Joshua Roberts serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
