Morgan James Mitchell, 74, a resident of Chatsworth, GA and a former resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of the Cohutta Seventh-day Adventist Church where he was a deacon. He loved gardening. He had served in National Guard. Mr. Mitchell was the son of the late I.C. Mitchell and Maggie Thomas Mitchell and was also preceded in death by his brother, Frank Mitchell and two sisters, Ruth Austin and Pauline Mitchell. He is survived by his wife Jewell Mitchell of Chatsworth, GA; four children: James Mitchell, Billy Joe Mitchell both of Chatsworth, GA, Patty Chavez and husband, Oscar of Cohutta, GA and Beth Gomez and husband, Adrian of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren: Roger Poff, Jacob Mitchell, Caleb Mitchell, Heather Crisp, Kimmie Miller and Ashley Lloyd; great-grandchildren: Madison and Sophia Miller; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Peter Reid of Cohutta Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating. Willie Austin, nephew, will bring the Eulogy. Interment will follow in Cohulla Baptist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
