Steward “Hickey” Casteel, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the family residence. He was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. He was retired from Tennessee Enamel Plant after 44 years of service. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army, who served in the European Theatre where he received three bronze stars. Mr. Casteel was the son of the late William B. Casteel and Amanda Raulston Casteel and was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ida Belle Casteel; brother, Jerry W. Casteel and a great-grandson, Kaiden Farkas. He is survived by his five children and spouses: Stewart “Eddie” and Julie Casteel of Georgetown, Wayman and Jana Casteel, Rhonda Gail and Chuck Tatum, Etta and Ron Davis and Janie Casteel all of Cleveland; thirteen grandchildren: Gary Casteel, Michelle Moyer, Melissa Prince, Ricky Visconti, Amy Farkas, Adam Casteel, Amber Tatum, Amanda Tatum, Justin Tatum, Matthew McTaggart, Michael McTaggart, Ben Davis and Lucas Davis; seventeen great-grandchildren; five sisters: Alliene Belk, Dot Craigo both of Cleveland, Geneva Moore of Birchwood, Mary Fowler of Cleveland, Carolyn Steelmon and husband Eddy of Cisco, GA; brother and spouse, Kenneth and Dorothy Casteel of Cleveland; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Irene Stuman; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Fred Anderson; sister-in-law, Betty Dean Goforth all of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at Philippi Baptist Church with Pastor Sammy Hooker officiating. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors and a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
