James L. “J.L.” Cronan, 81, of Cleveland, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 in a local healthcare facility. He was of the Baptist faith. He was employed with Maytag Corporation for 25 years. He was a member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge. He had a passion for Bluegrass Music and played with the “Bradley County Ramblers”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Milton Cronan and Lizzie Chester Cronan. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mildred Smith Cronan of Cleveland; two children: James Cronan and wife, Carol Ann of Buda, TX, and Morris Cronan of Cleveland; six grandchildren: Angie Chadwick of Cleveland, Tammy Enriques of Benton, Sheri Higgins and Kevin Wayne Cronan both of Cleveland, Scott Edward Cronan of Taylorsville, NC and Katherine Cronan of Arizona City, AZ; several great grandchildren; three sisters: Evelyn McCurdy and husband, Raymond of Claxton, McMinn Co., Inez Reins of Chattanooga and Mary Lee and husband, Bob of Lawrenceburg; two brothers: Bill (Sherman) Cronan and wife, Linda of Chester, SC and Max Cronan and wife, Vickie of Etowah and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Farris officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Bruce Brown, Jeff Reins, Buddy McCurdy, Scott Cronan, Kevin Cronan, Sherman Cronan, Jr. and Christopher Cronan serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 1010 at the funeral home.
