James Vernon Fannin

June 13, 1938 — February 10, 2010

James Vernon “Clem” Fannin, 71, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at his residence. He retired in 1997 as a technician with Bellsouth after 28 years of service. He was also a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. He was a member of Big Spring United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Gertie Alloway Fannin; five brothers, Albert, Floyd, Leon, T. F. and Franklin Fannin; and three sisters, Bertha Swafford, Mamie Morrow and Mildred Teague. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Bell Fannin; son, Thomas Fannin; granddaughter, Emma Fannin, all of Cleveland; sister, Fay Parker of High Point, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Lyle White officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Neal Bell, Bruce Bell, Jeff Rogers, R.H. Lovin, Lloyd Rogers and Heath Sullivan serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. The family suggests that memorials be made to Big Spring United Methodist Church, 1196 Hardwick St. SE, Cleveland, TN 37311.
