Jack Wilson

August 21, 1921 — March 26, 2010

Loyd “Jack” Wilson, 88, passed away Friday morning, March 26, 2010 in a local hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He established Jack’s Kleen-Rite Laundry and Cleaners in December of 1953 and was actively engaged in the operation of the business until mid 2009. He was active for many years in various civic and community organizations including the Jaycees, The Cleveland Evening and Noon Days Lions Clubs, Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 81 and 40/8, and was a founding member of the local chapter of the American Kidney Foundation. As a fifty year+ member of the Lions Club, he was recognized with a number of awards including the 1989 “Melvin Jones Fellow for Dedicated Humanitarian Service” and in 1984 the “Lion of the Decade”. In 1990, he was presented with the “Veterans Patriotic Award”. Mr. Wilson partnered with the Local United Way in the mid 1980's to establish the Coats for Kids Drive in our community, and in 2005 was recognized by Main Street Cleveland for his “Lifetime Commitment and Dedication to Downtown Cleveland”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Murray and Fannie A.Tallent Wilson;his wife, Marco Wilson; son-in-law, R.L. Scoggins; two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his daughter and business partner, Jackie Scoggins, one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Pandy Wilson; daughters and sons-in-law: Susie and Terry Stanfield, Ginger and Barry Savage all of Cleveland; five grandchildren: Beth (Dupre) Little of Anderson, SC, Susan Scoggins, Hannah (Brian) Boruff, Chad Savage, Savannah Savage and Conner Wilson all of Cleveland; one great grandson, Cole Little of Anderson, SC; one brother, Jim Wilson of Madisonville; sisters: Lillian Akin of Etowah and Ruby Gallahar of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2009 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Reverend Bill Beaty and the Reverend Steve Hartline will officiate. His family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. The family requests memorials be made to the Lions Club Sight Program, P.O.
