Doyle Steve Ownby

Doyle Steve Ownby, 83, a resident of Blount County and formerly of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 in a Maryville healthcare facility. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He resided most of his adult life in Cleveland, Ohio and worked with Ford Motor Company. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army Aircorp in the Pacific Theater. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clell H. Ownby and Trula Cole Ownby; and wives, Helen Kelly Ownby and Karen Gaydash Ownby. Survivors include his step-daughters, Gayle Staron and Lynne Rotundo both of Ohio; grandchildren: Jessica Rotundo, Markie Staron, Ashley Staron and Bradley Staron; two sisters, Betty Bryant and Wanda R. Pritchett both of Cleveland; two brothers: Carl H. Owenby of Maryville and Robert C. Owenby of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Kevin Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Mark Staron, Michael Rotundo, Gary Bryant, Eddie Owenby, Steve Owenby and Doug Owenby serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
