Egon Hermann Lohan, age 79, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010, in a local hospital after a prolonged cardiac condition. He was a native of Berlin, Germany, and cherished his German heritage. He served in the German and Canadian Armies. Upon immigration in 1957, he made his home in Chicago where he was employed as an engineer for Continental Offices. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying big game hunting, fishing, snow skiing, and boating. The true love and passion of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Hermann Hubert and Maria Poppe Lohan of the former East Germany; his wife of 30 years, Elizabeth Lohan; and sister Erika Wolter. He is survived by his children Marty and Cindy Lohan of Palm City, FL, and Ramona and Robert Thompson of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren – Alexandra and Caroline Lohan of Palm City, FL, and Gabriella, Elsa, Emma and Adelaide Thompson of Cleveland, TN. Private services will be held at a later date. Ralph Buckner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
