Lorena E Dixon

March 9, 1920 — September 8, 2010

Lorena E. Dixon, 90, a life long resident of Bradley County passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in a local hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was a charter member of Thompson Springs Baptist Church where her family donated the property for the church. She was a graduate of Bradley Central High School and graduated from National School of Business. She was retired from Taylor School Cafeteria after 25 years of service. She was active in the Taylor Home Demonstration Club for many years. She was a dedicated pastor’s wife of the late Reverend Walter E. Dixon who passed away in 1971. She graciously served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Mrs. Dixon was the daughter of the late Thomas Cook Thompson and Lela Patterson Thompson and was also preceded in death by her sons Walter L. “Buddy” Dixon and Mikel A. Dixon; two brothers, Horace Thompson and Newell B. Thompson; sister, Inez Eaton and son-in-law, Joe Raley. Survivors include her children: Sue Raley of Bayminette, AL, Faye Nease and husband Clarence Nease, Dot Franks and husband Dennis Franks all of Cleveland, Mel Dixon and wife, Janice Dixon of McMinnville and Wendell S. Dixon and wife Debbie Dixon of Cleveland; nine grandchildren: Joe Lynn Raley, Jeff Raley, Todd Nease, Penny Alawat, Tonya Presswood, Dennis Franks, Jr., Sherri Littrell, Shane Turner, Derek Dixon, Matt Dixon, Randy Dixon, Dwight Dixon, Perry Dixon and Tammy Dixon; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Epperson of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Joe White officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Todd Nease, Dennis Franks, Jr., Don Littrell, Derek Dixon, Robert Presswood and Luke Littrell will serve as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 at the funeral home.
