Carol D Evans

Carol D. Evans, 68, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 at a local hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a former accountant and bookkeeper. She and her husband owned Evans Janitorial for 23 years. Mrs. Evans was the daughter of the late Austin R. Gates and Bertie Chadwick Gates and was also preceded in death by siblings Shirley Gates, Bob Gates, Ralph Gates and Austin “Bud” Gates. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ray Evans of Cleveland; two sons: Chad Evans and wife Laura Evans of Anderson, IN and Greg Evans of Decatur, GA; two granddaughters: Melody Evans and Bethany Evans both of Anderson, IN; four siblings: Ed Gates and wife Carolyn Gates of Ocoee, J.O. Gates and wife Alma Sue Gates of Knoxville, Alma Sue Hammontree of Cleveland and Florence Smyth of El Passo, TX; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Arp officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Greg Evans, Chad Evans, Nolan Swanson and Scott Kay will serve as pallbearers.
