Thelma L. Couch Millard, 97, of Cleveland, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. She will be greatly missed by her family, church and neighbors. She was affectionately known at the “flower lady” by her neighbors. Mrs. Millard was the oldest member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” R. Millard; parents, John W. and Dora Moore Couch; brothers, Leonard Couch and Emmett Couch; and sisters, Cora Combs, Mattie McCorkle and Lenna Coffman.
Survivors include her children, William R. Millard and wife, Marcia of Athens and Mary L. DuBose and husband, Steve, Betty Millard and Carolyn Withrow and husband, Larry, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Sheila Latimer, W. Brian Millard, James “Jim” Millard, Les Fansler, Donna Jones, Vickie Clayton, Cathy Wooden, Lora Withrow Ort, Jeffrey (Andy) Withrow and Greg Withrow; great grandchildren, Grant, Stephen and Elizabeth Montgomery, Autumn and Ashley Millard, Cassy Martin, Stephanie Soos, and Katherine, Jonathan, Caroline and Benjamin Ort; great-great grandchildren, Halen Martin, Hayden and Hunter Soos, Malayna Montgomery, Devin Swafford and Jaida Ort; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral with the Reverend Jim Caywood officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with Les Fansler, Andy Withrow, Greg Withrow, Brian Millard, Jim Millard and Michael DuBose serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
Her family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hopewell Baptist Church General Fund, 188 Old Georgetown Rd NW, Cleveland, TN 37312.
