Russ Musgrove, 52 and his wife Karen, 50 of Woodstock, Georgia passed away Thursday, October 30 as a result of an auto accident. A Memorial Service will be held at Hillside United Methodist Church in Woodstock, Georgia on Wednesday, November 5th at 6:00pm with visitation following the service.
Russell Brent Musgrove, Sr. was born on November 10, 1962 to Orvil J. and Dorothy Russell Musgrove of Columbia, TN. He was a 1981 graduate of Columbia Central High School. In 1985 he graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. Russ was the Vice-President of Claims for AXIS Insurance in Alpharetta, Georgia. Russ was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willard and Opal Russell and Christopher and Mary Elizabeth Musgrove and his sister-in-law, Lisa Musgrove. To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his three children; his mother and father, Dorothy and Orville Musgrove; his brother, Jeff Musgrove; his sister, Susan Musgrove; and his niece and nephews, Nathan, Zac, and Caitlin Musgrove and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Russ was loved and respected by all who knew him. He had a passion for jazz music and leisurely motorcycle rides. His legacy of compassion, commitment, and love for others will continue through all who knew him.
Karen Wallace Musgrove was born on May 5, 1964 to Gary Marshall and Suzanne Newman Wallace in Cleveland, TN. She was a 1982 graduate of Bradley Central High School and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1986. Her grandparents Jake and Sue Newman and Marshall Wallace preceded her in death. To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her three children; her mother and father, Suzanne and Gary Wallace; her grandmother, Virginia Hooper Wallace; her siblings, Ken and Sharon Wallace and Amanda and Duane Gilbert; her nieces, Grace and Alexis Gilbert; her nephews, Garrett and Greyson Wallace, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Karen touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a passion for music, tennis and loving on her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, friendship, loyalty and an infectious laugh will live on through cherished memories of all who knew her.
Russ and Karen met in college at MTSU. From there they began a love story to be envied. They married on March 26, 1988. Russ soon settled into the insurance business and they began their family. They began their marriage in Nashville, TN then moved to Hoover, AL and lived there for eight years before moving to Woodstock, GA in 2002. They were devoted and proud parents of their three children: Russell Brent Musgrove, Jr., 24, Jake Marshall Musgrove, 22, and Emily Suzanne Musgrove, 19.
They committed their lives to teaching them how to live an abundant life filled with hard work and lots of love. They loved being parents and took great joy in that privilege. They were active in their community and dedicated to their church, Hillside United Methodist, where Karen sang in the Praise Team for many years and Russ actively served in many capacities. They continued their love story as empty nesters by being loyal and joyful in their relationship. They enjoyed each other’s company and loved traveling together. As a celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary, they took their “trip of a lifetime” to Italy. They were true examples of how a Christian couple should parent, love and live. They will be greatly missed by everyone who knew them.
