Kermit Hadley Maupin

June 7, 1924 — June 2, 2015

Kermit Hadley Maupin, 90, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015.  He retired from Bowater Paper Company after 32 years.  He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.  He was Captain of the 1942 undefeated Bradley Bears football team and a member of Bradley County Old Timers Sports Hall of Fame.

He was a Veteran of World War II with 3 Battle Stars in the European Campaign.

 He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Lillian Palmer Maupin and two daughters:  Janice Maupin Henry and infant, Holly Lee Maupin.

His parents W. S. and Annie Price Maupin preceded him in death and two sisters Lydia Alma Jean Maupin and Opal Maupin Boykin and four brothers Paul, Jesse C., Bill and James.

 Survivors include his sister Joyce Maupin, a son William D. Goins III (Diane) of Soddy Daisy; two grandsons William D Goins IV, “Will” (Hollie) of Huntsville, AL; Clay Goins (Kelly), of Chattanooga; and granddaughter Courtney Matthews Marzahl (Dan) of Knoxville;  8 great-grandchildren William D GoinsV, “Quin”,  Delmont Kermit Goins, Lillian “Lillie”  Goins, Lukas Goins, Hadley Goins, Hudson Goins, Macy Marzahl and Mackenzie Marzahl; a special son-in-law Jeff  Matthews and wife, Carol, of Cleveland.

 A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens conducted by his son William D. Goins III.

 Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
