Robert Legg, Jr., 92, a resident of Harrison, TN, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 in a Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia healthcare facility. He was a member of Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force serving in Europe during WWII.
He was a huge Tennessee Vols fan and loved taking his grandchildren fishing.
Mr. Legg was the son of the late Robert Legg and Della Erwin Legg.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years, Thelma Evrett Legg of Harrison; one son, Joe Legg and wife, Judy of Chattanooga; two grandchildren: Jeffrey Legg and wife, Julie Ann of Chattanooga and Julie Grant and husband, Kevin of Ringgold, GA; three great-grandchildren: Tyler Meroney of Ringgold, GA, Eli Legg and Presley Legg both of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Sam Melton officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with military honors. Jerry Evrett, Kenneth Ramsey, Jeff Legg, Eli Legg, Tyler Meroney and Kevin Grant will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
