Ortha Marie Carson Kersey

Ortha Marie Carson Kersey, 93, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at the family residence with her care givers by her side.
She was born in Cleveland, TN on February 6, 1921 to the late Walter E. and Pearl Dixon Carson and was a lifelong resident of Chilcutt community.
She was the oldest living member of Chilcutt United Methodist Church. She worked hard raising her family of five children, alongside her husband, “Thumper”. She took pride in planting and harvesting their vegetable garden each year and she also loved all types of flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thamer Kersey; sisters: Mary Mason and Dorothy Carson; and brothers: Earl Carson and G.W. (Short) Carson and a great-grandson.
She is survived by her children: daughters and son-in-law, Nancey Kersey and Betty and Louis Finnell; sons: and daughters-in-law: Jackie and Ruth Ann Kersey, George and Janice Kersey, and Wayne and Cordelia Kersey all of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren: Mitzi (Gary) Womac, Lori (Brian) Perrin, Holly (Ryan) Ulrich, Wendy (Mario) Santos, Greg (Angela) Kersey, Tammy (Clint) Ledford and Melanie Kersey and nine great-grandchildren: Taylor Womac and Brittany Womac, Devin Kersey and Shelby Kersey, Zachery Ulrich and Kevin Ulrich, Chloe Ledford and Maddisen Santos and Masen Santos; sisters: Ruth Parker and Velma Boyd; and close family friend, Mickey Johnson.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Hood officiating. Interment will follow in Chilcutt Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Pallbearers will be David Calfee, Roger York, Billy Headrick, David Wright, Chris Lowe and Dylan Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Maddisen Santos, Masen Santos, Virgil Calfee, Glenn Calfee, Jimmy Headrick, Jimmy Wright and Steve Headrick.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
