Wilma R. Whaley, 85 passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at her residence in Chattanooga. She was a native and lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN. She was a loving and caring person who never met a stranger and cared for everyone she knew. She was a member of Spring Place Church of God of Prophecy. Mrs. Whaley was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Whaley; her parents, William McKinley Goodwin and Alice Lavada Williams Goodwin; her siblings: Elizabeth Gladson, Laverne Melton, Sterling Goodwin, Ernest Goodwin, Wanda Wheeler, Wendell Goodwin and Lucille Earls. Survivors include her three children: Melinda Lomenick and husband, Loren of Chattanooga, Mark Whaley and wife, Margaret of Ocoee, and Marion Whaley and wife, Melanie of Cleveland; two grandchildren: Lauren Whaley of Chattanooga and Kristyn Whaley of Johnson City, TN; three siblings: Reba Lowe, Faye DeLay, and Aubrey Goodwin all of Cleveland; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cedar Springs Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the funeral home.
