Carl Broyles

November 2, 1921 — August 21, 2015

Carl Broyles, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 in a local hospital. He served as SGT Major in the United States Army, where he received the American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Ribbon and a World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion and was of Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa McAlister Broyles; parents, Carl Broyles, Sr. and Addie Tallent Broyles; children, Jerry Broyles and Shelia Greene. Survivors include his children, Patricia Snow and husband, Ken of Keystone Heights, FL and Vickie Allison and husband, Jeff of Bowling Green, KY; special aunt, Alma Broyles of Athens and caregiver, Zola Queen of Cleveland; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with military honors and a white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the funeral home.
