Josie Ellen Davis, age, 87, a lifelong resident of McDonald, TN and the last of 14 children of William and Emily Holder, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016, at the family residence. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Josie retired from Magic Chef after 42 years of service to fulfill her greatest role as full time “Granny Josie” which she was affectionately known as by her family and friends in the community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Louis, Harrison, Eugene, Grace, Albert, Juanita, Aline, Luther, Ida, Irene, James, Tom and Billy; husband, Jack Davis; son-in-law, Joe Kelley and Loy Parlier, and daughter Jackie Davis.
She is survived by son , Paul Davis; daughters, Nancy Parlier and Sharon Kelley; grandchildren, Paula Davis, Stephanie Hatmaker, Angee Parlier (Tony), Michael Brock (Amelia) and Emily Hannah (Kevin); great grandchildren, Christopher Sherlin, Nick Hatmaker, Kaity Strickland, Elliott Brock, Addison Brock, Chris Jones, and Nichole Hannah; great grandchildren David Davis and Rosie Jones.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Greg Banther officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Lee Cemetery in McDonald with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
