Fia McMahan went home to be with her Lord early Wednesday morning, March 30, 2016.  She was a faithful Christian and diligent worker in the church.  She and her late husband, Lewis R. McMahan attended Lee College and served as missionaries and pastors in Hawaii and California.  She was born in A'oloau, Tutila, American Samoa on Christmas Day 1927.  Coming to Hawaii in 1939, she was active in the church as a children and youth leader, church planter, musician and youth choir leader.  She helped plant the Church of God in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.  She was a banking bookkeeper in Dallas, Texas and faithful member at Turning Point, formerly Mountain View Church of God.  Her loving spirit,  solid Christian commitment and enduring prayer were an inspiration to all, including her family.  She was the surviving member of a cherished extended family in American Samoa.  She will be greatly remembered and missed by many, including her family.

She was survived by her son, Oliver McMahan and daughter-in-law, Martha of Cleveland, TN; her grandson, Jonathan McMahan and grand daughter-in-law, Heather, and great granddaughters Haley, Sarah, Olivia and Emma of Cleveland, TN; her granddaughter, Holly Salicco and grand son-in-law, Ben and great grandchildren, Sophia and Josiah of Phoenix, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis McMahan; son, Grady McMahan; and granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth McMahan; her father, Leaualofa Taula'i Nunu from the village of Fitiuta, Manu'a, American Samoa; her mother, Taumulioali'i Salome Afalava from the village of Tutuila, American Samoa; brother, Fiatala Afalava, sisters, Lusa Siliga and Faava Malepeai, half-brother, Li'ili'i and half sister, Levaaia.  Also, she leaves behind nephews and nieces, Eliki Afalava, Laupele Afalava, Agava'a Afalava, Paulo Afalava, Alefa Afalava, Emi Afalava, Kuresa Afalava, Olamai Siliga, Faaleiloa Siliga, Sina Masaniai, Vaosasa Scanlan, Lopeti Malepeai, Fiavaai Sherman, Leua Tagaloa, Uima Samaia, Joe Malepeai and Simi Malepeai.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 02, 2016 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Sadowski officiating.  Interment will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery with Jonathan McMahan, Ben Salicco, Les Deal, Phil Woods, Jared Dare, and Cephas White serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Josiah Salicco, Grady McMahan, Jerry McMahan, and John Rogers.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
