Roy C. Gibson, 93, of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with the Lord on April 17, 2016. He was a member of the United Church of Jesus Christ.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving in WWII and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Eame Theater Ribbon, the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He loved to go fishing.
Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian J. Gibson; son, Clifford E. Gibson; daughter, Frances Gibson; father, Reverend William C. Gibson and mother, Emma B. Gibson, brothers: William L. Gibson, Virgil M. Gibson, and Hoyt C. Gibson; sisters, Bertha M. Gibson and Rachel L. Gibson.
He is survived by grandson, Tim Gibson; granddaughters, Lisa Aytes, and Kim Johnson; step granddaughter, Oletha Wade; sisters, Betty Thomas and Virginia Simcox and husband, Clyde Simcox; sisters-in-law, Brenda Gibson and Geneva Gibson; several nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
