Shirley P Brock

Shirley P. Brock, 77, of Cleveland, went to be in the arms of the Savior on Thursday, May 12, 2016 in a Chattanooga hospital.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cleveland where she enjoyed working in the nursery for over 30 years.  She worked for Cleveland Bank and Trust and retired in 1999 from First Tennessee Bank.  She enjoyed cooking and being with her family.  She was a loving wife, mother and “Drena”.  Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she was happiest sitting in the gym, at the ball park, or at the golf course supporting her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles T. Brock; her parents, Carl and Edna Painter; daughter, Debbie McGuire; and brother, Eddie Painter.

She is survived by her children, Jill Carroll and husband, Brian, and Brian Brock and wife, Casey, all of Cleveland; six grandchildren, Evan McGuire and wife, Jenn of Ooltewah, Tyler McGuire and wife, Paige of Georgetown, Hunter Carroll of Cleveland, and Cydney, Cammy and Carrygan “Gunny” Brock, all of Cleveland; sisters, Bettye Masengil and Wanda Thomas both of Cleveland. Several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Tom Wickes and the Reverend Jim Gibson officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Evan McGuire, Tyler McGuire, Hunter Carroll, Jason Richardson, Chris Painter, Jerry Burrell and Derrick Burrell serving as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the funeral home.
